According to police, CCSD received a call about a fight at the school and a vehicle with a weapon. Lt. Brian Zink, public information officer for the Clark County Police Department, said that at around 2:15 p.m. officers responded to the scene where they saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through the east parking lot on campus.
The vehicle reportedly struck a student while it was speeding through the lot; police then ordered the vehicle to stop and opened fire when they say the vehicle continued toward officers in the parking lot.
The car then fled the scene. Police say a short time later two kids were taken to different hospitals, both for non-life threatening gun shot wounds.
Details are pretty sketchy as the police have given conflicting statements on who was shot and whether the incident was related to the fight that was called in. But they did say that there was an officer-involved shooting, so it appears the two people who were in the vehicle were shot by CCSD police.
Our sources tell us that the car that was shot at by police was involved in an earlier fight with students from Western High.
