With trade show attendance numbers still struggling to make a comeback in Las Vegas, and the governor’s office adding to the uncertainty by once again pushing mask mandates and rumors of shut downs and capacity limits behind the scenes, August could be a make or break month for convention industry workers and businesses who are hanging their financial hat on many of the large conventions set to return next month.
Here are some of the large conventions that are scheduled to make their return in August:
Black Hat USA
Black Hat USA is one of the world’s leading information security event, providing attendees with the very latest in research, development and trends. The six-day Black Hat event at Mandalay Bay begins on July 31st with four days of intense Training for security practitioners, followed by the two-day main event.
Cvent Connect 2021
Cvent CONNECT is the world’s premier event technology conference. Join Cvent at one of the world’s largest hybrid gatherings of meetings, events, and hospitality professionals. For industry insiders, this event raises a lot of concerns for Las Vegas as the event is offering In-Person and Virtual Passes, suggesting that like many of the returning trade shows they are struggling to get people back live. in-person.
Even more worrisome, is this is an event specifically geared towards those in the events industry; if we can’t even get the meeting planners to come back to a live event what does that mean for the industry?
The show runs from August 1 – 4 at the new Caesars Forum.
DEFCON
Started in 1992 by the Dark Tangent, DEF CON is the world’s longest running and largest underground hacking conference. The event brings together everyone from top security experts to infamous hackers and those who think they can hack.
Every year major vulnerabilities in our infrastructure are discovered at DEFCON, as so-called “friendly hackers” attempt to expose weaknesses that could be exploited by less friendly hackers looking to interfere with the world. From exposing lax security practices to hackers demonstrating techniques to compromise electronic safes with cryptographic locks, DEFCON is one of the most important security conferences of the year.
The show runs from August 5 – 8 at Ballys.
MAGIC Marketplace Fall Show
The Magic Marketplace Show is the fashion industry’s premier showcase event contemporary men’s and women’s apparel, footwear and sourcing and the most comprehensive destination for fashion buyers and brands in the world.
The show run from August 9 -11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
OFFPRICE Specialist Show
The OFFPRICE Show is the shopping destination for smart retailers who want fashionable apparel, footwear and accessories, at prices that can’t be beat. The show connects apparel retail buyers of all sizes with the leading off-price specialists in 20-70 percent below wholesale apparel, accessories, footwear and more.
The OFFPRICE Show runs from August 7 – 10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
SuperZOO Expo
SuperZoo is your chance to meet and network with professionals from the retail pet industry. With over 15,000 people flocking to SuperZoo 2018 in Las Vegas to snag the latest hot-ticket items and standout products for their store shelves, the show is one of the retail pet industry’s top expos for meeting with suppliers, industry experts and pet professionals.
The expo runs from August 17 – 19 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Pizza Expo
The 2021 Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, put on by the National Association of Pizzeria Operators, is the world’s largest pizza-only trade show. Pizza Expo, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, is the only industry event where you’ll find more than 90 industry-specific seminars, workshops, and demonstrations, not to mention 500 exhibiting companies and 1,100 booths.
The expo runs from August 17 – 19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Las Vegas Market – Summer

Las Vegas Market runs from August 22 – 26 at the World Market Center.
CinemaCon

The show runs from August 23 – 26 at Caesars Palace.
HD Expo: Hospitality Design Conference
The 2021 Hospitality Design Expo & Conference in Las Vegas, presented by Hospitality Design magazine, is the premier trade show and conference for hospitality interior design.
The show runs from August 24 – 25 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show
The Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show is the largest trade-only event catering to the antique and estate jewelry and watch industry.
