Another Las Vegas Ad Campaign

Let’s face it after the “What happens here, stays here” campaign the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has rolled out one bad ad campaign after another. I mean come on, what the heck is “your Vegas is showing?”

The newest effort from the Las Vegas Visitors Authority is called “Vegas Bound,” which follows 100 people from the small town of Cranfills Gap, Texas, who were brought to Vegas for five days last month.

The ads show the residents doing everything from indoor sky diving to a woman trying to dance on a stripper pole. It’s to early to know if the new campaign will be a hit, but some national publications have started to pick up the story.

So let’s all hope that our tax dollars work this time, and that we didn’t just pay for a small town to come here and live it up. Because it this campaign fails, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is going to have a lot of explaining to do. About 2.5 million dollars of explaining!

It’s “Vegas Bound.” If you’re going to criticize and broadcast it to the world, at least get the name of the campaign right. And can’t we put a little bit of faith in those who are trying to help the economy by boosting tourism?!

I hope it does bring more people to the valley, but I’m also a little sick of the silly ad campaigns that do nothing to help the city.

I also think that wasting 2.5 million dollars to give 100 people a good time was a huge waste of tax dollars. They could have just as easily followed people around that were already here in the city on their own dime. It’s really not that hard to find people who want to be on T.V.
